As avid travelers and adventure enthusiasts, we must do our best to make sustainable travel a norm and transition conventional tourism into a more mindful practice. In an effort to make this a reality, we must adopt new practices in our habits. That is why we created a small list of things you need to have in your next adventure as the committed traveler you are to the environment.

Reef Safe Sunscreen

Sunscreen is such an essential part of travelling to avoid burning or causing damage to our skin. But how often do we think about the repercussions of using any sunscreen brand with ingredients we do not know? They harm not only our skin and bodies but also the environment and oceans. Many sunscreen companies sell their products without considering their responsibility to care for the environment and the skin. A favourite of mine is the brand. We Are Feel Good Inc. Their variety of products is fantastic when caring for our skin and oceans. Their sunscreen is reef-safe, skin-safe and perfect for all skin types and family members.

Bamboo Toothbrush

If you think about it, the large amount of plastic we produce is crazy, and one of the ways to reduce it is by choosing biodegradable products like bamboo toothbrushes. They are reasonably priced, and you won't have to worry about the years to decompose after using them. There are now many brands of bamboo toothbrushes, and not all are available everywhere. Still, you can find them everywhere, at any natural store or even in supermarkets.

Shampoo Bar Bags

Another excellent alternative for carrying heavy and wasteful shampoo bottles is shampoo bars. They have been gaining popularity over the years as they get their job done, and they can last a long time, saving you money as well. But only sometimes do people talk about how messy it can get when you are trying to pack your soap back in your belongings after using it. Making them wet and putting them into containers can be fuzzy. That is why these new bags for these bars are great! They will let the dry in your backpack while also containing all the liquid without making everything messy.

Silicone Travel Bottles

If you need to pack another sanitary product, these silicone bottles are super helpful when you want to refill and keep using them after each adventure you go on. They are small, take only a little room in your bags, and are easy to clean. The best thing is to keep refilling them after use; they can last a long time!

Laundry Detergent Sheets

The chemicals in detergents can be really damaging when they get drained, contaminating the water, rivers, and environment. If you can source your laundry while travelling, you can buy these sheets that dissolve in water. If you don't have access to laundry machines, you can always wash by hand, and these lightweight sheets will help clean your clothes while ensuring you have practical packing.

Solar Charger

A significant way to reduce energy waste at any of your local accommodations is by getting a charger that lets you gain energy from the sun. S: especially if you're travelling in places with much exposure to solar waves. Just leave it recharging for a few hours while you are out and about, and then use its multiple charging loads when you are back.

While many of these products still cost more than conventional products, they are an investment. As travelers committed to improving the world and environment, we have to adapt our lifestyles to turn to travel into a sustainable practice. We are hopeful that with small steps and changes in our habits, we will build a new and better world for adventuring.
