Welcome to Gothenburg, Sweden!
Or “Välkommen till Sverige” as the Swedes say! Your first day is all about experiencing as much of Gothenburg as possible. We’ll move into our accommodation, which will be a bit of an adventure actually. We will be staying on a houseboat which underlines Gothenburg’s harbor flair. Once we’ve settled in, we start our exploration of the city by walking around the most scenic districts, with a lunch break in Gothenburg’s Food Hall, where everyone can try anything they like. The rest of the day is for you to enjoy on your own.
Meet the Locals
When in Sweden, you have to visit the countryside and the beautiful nature, and that’s exactly what’s on the agenda today! We’ll travel into nature to Norsesund by train and meet Anna. She is a local who lives here with her small family, and she will show us part of the famous trekking path “Gotaleden”. After the hike, we’ll learn how to bake Swedish cinnamon buns “kanelbullar” in Anna’s kitchen and enjoy an iconic Swedish “fika” session together.
In the evening, we head back to Gothenburg and our houseboat. If anyone would like to experience a Swedish sauna (for an additional charge), this can be arranged. During dinner time, we’ll chat about the highlights of the day.
Today, we leave our homeboat and take the ferry to a small archipelago island called Hönö. Have you ever bouldered with a breathtaking view? Well today, you’ll have the opportunity to do so! There are options of easy and advanced spots for bouldering, depending on your level. If you’d rather skip this activity, you can rent a bike and explore the Ersdalen Nature Reserve. When it’s time to fill our tummies, we’ll enjoy the catch of the day as Hönö is very well-known for its fishing.
This being our last day, we’ll take the ferry back to the mainland and enjoy one last lunch together before heading to the airport.
If you’ve always wanted to experience the Swedish city life just like a local, but still want to stay close to nature, this trip is a perfect combination of both designed for you. It speaks to city lovers who like to search beneath the surface for a more authentic exploration of a country to the fullest. Here is where big city vibes, nature love and the adventurer in you will be awakened!
Our goal is to get to know Sweden through a variety of difference lenses. Exploring the city’s twists-and-turns is only one facet. Immersing yourself into the exquisite natural landscapes and Nordic culture of Sweden is another.
